Odd Places to Find Flyers

Reminder: the interest meeting is tomorrow at 6 P.M. Please come and bring ideas!

I found some of my flyers today...not in traditional places. At BAB, all the flyers got moved around with the bulletin board remodeling stuff, so I can't really completely blame the people working on this, but I found two College Republicans flyers right next to each other on the same board. Considering the limit of three flyers per building, that did not make me happy. So I took the liberty of moving one.

About the non-traditional places, I found one in the music section of Roberts Hall hanging in the doorway of a bathroom bearing the words "wet paint". I guess the Democrat painters ran out of paper and pulled down the first flyer they could find to write on the back of. (Aren't there any homecoming queen flyers still floating around?) It doesn't sound so funny to read about, but it made me laugh to look at MY flyer hanging in the doorway like that.

Rick Perry Campaign Looking For Volunteers

I received he following email from the Perry Student Director for Alabama. I recommend that you do not support Rick Perry in any way, but here is the information in case you happen to be interested.

Hello all,

My name is Joe Mahoney and I serve as Governor Perry's Student Director for the state of Alabama. We are interested in establishing local campaign chapters at college campuses across the United States, and in this case, Alabama. Please e-mail me with your College Republican chapter chairman contact name and number so that I can go over the objectives for the campaign, and what our vision is for the student movement in Alabama if there are members who are interested in working for our campaign, regardless of whom you may be supporting personally in the primary election.

Additionally, I would ask that you provide the link to the newly created Facebook Page in your e-mail updates to your members: Alabama Students for Rick Perry, so that interested college Republicans can stay informed on statewide campaign updates and more information on how to get involved:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Alabama-Students-for-Rick-Perry/186638061406017

Please let me know if there is an interest in forming a campus chapter at your University, or if you have members who have expressed interest in joining the campaign. We would love to help you in starting a campus movement at your University for the purposes of growing support for Governor Perry's campaign.

Thank you and have a great afternoon,

Joe Mahoney

Flyers Are Posted!

Hey all,

I just blew my whole afternoon putting up flyers for the upcoming interest meeting. I knew it would be a pain, but I had no idea! In the future, more than one club officer will participate in this activity.

BAB will be flyer-ed Monday or Tuesday, whenever they get done with extreme bulletin board makeover.

PLEASE come to the meeting, and email me to get on the distribution list. Thanks

Interest Meeting

We will be having an interest meeting on October 20th at 6:00 P.M. in the University Center room 132. If you are interested in the club but cannot make the meeting, please email me! College Republicans needs all the support it can get.

The meeting goes until 7:00, so if you can't quite make it at 6:00, don't let that be an excuse to not come at all. (However, this does not mean that everyone should wait until 6:55 to show up.)

Hello and Welcome!

Hello Republicans and curious people who have stumbled upon this blog!

As you can probably see, the club is not quite up and running yet. I'm still working out the logistics of having an interest meeting. It was not quite certain last year if the low numbers were due to lack of announcement, lack of club content, or lack of people in existence who actually care. So I'm going to investigate, find out how to engage students in our Republican endeavors, and do my best at it. Please bear with me, as I am a normal non-expert student like most of you are. I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on politics and what is happening in the legislature (especially at the state level) and, other than my predecessors who recently terminated their responsibilities, I haved no connections. I do have common sense and student level business skills, however, and am ambitious about applying basic knowlege of what's going on with our leaders to daily life. And, for that matter, knowledge of daily life to how we vote.

So look for announcements around campus and contact me if you are interested in getting involved.
